Hiding

There's no lies and never anything hidden.
We're like two open books blowing in the wind.
Our words white and never miss a step.
We're used and broken, but we cover it so nice.

Gaslight Anthem

They say red sky at night, sailors delight.
They're smiling tonight, sleeping with eyes shut tight.
Finding our voices in dark black ink, between us and them it's the only link.
Misinterpreting everything inside a wink, when in reality it was an involuntary blink.
Practicing our forms of legless love, strange and as broken as a fallen dove.
Cold hans covered in gloves, colder hands with a lack thereof.

1994.

I've never known how to live for tomorrow.
I've never thought ahead more than ten minutes.
I've never seen the glass as empty or full.
I've always drank it before I've looked at what's inside.
I've always taken life for a gift at this moment.
I've always done what felt right,
and I've never had a regret.

ABC's and 123's

we say so much to tell so little. we can never vocalize what is repeated through our heads daily.

we ask uncountable questions, just to beat around the bush. we hint and wink, allude and suggest.

read my mind, see how much of a dirty bastard i really am, but don't make me say any of this out loud.

let me type it, text it and tattoo it. i cant get my mouth to form these words into something real.

the inflections in my voice might give me away, me nervous laughing might show me to be weak.

so let me type it, text it and tattoo it. cause i cant get my mouth to form these words into something fake.

i want to paint like Hitler one day..

hey, YOU!

I know the one i want...
looking down at me from the top of the stairs,
walking across my lawn to retrieve the fallen snakes,
in my kitchen when i wake up in the morning,
standing aside while i call all the shots,
strumming chords on my guitar in the basement,
in my blankets when it gets too cold,
outside my house when i don't answer my phone,
being my hip hop misfit, straight from the pacific.

What they don't tell you is the feel, emotion and zeal.
It's in the voices and riffs, screaming loud over cliffs.
Moonshine and moon's shine, I'm miles and miles past the line.

My stolen face and dirty head have found freedom.
I need a field of trees and a backyard of grass.
One day i'll wake up with a smile and a green thumb.
One day i'll go to bed and leave forever, alas.

Not Today.

Tonight.
That's all it's ever been about.

The ride home.
The cigarette burning between my fingers.
The unbearable stench of tomorrow.
The sun setting on a low note.
The goodbye kiss we can't deny.
The stolen words and shoulder shrugs.
The ventilation in the bathrooms and cars.

The new blankets for you and me.
Still hearing your laugh, you've stolen the key.

Fire on the Mountain

heart and body.
mind and folly.
sole and heel.
bow and kneel.
life and death.
shortness of breath.
guns and beer.
love and fear.
